Extending a Visitor Permit is a straightforward process for those travellers who have a genuine reason for extending their stay in Samoa. There are a number of requirements that must be satisfied but they are almost identical to the initial requirements already met by any traveller already in Samoa. Successfull applications see the Visitor Permit extended for an additional sixty (60) day period.
Requirements
All applicants for an extension to a Visitor Permit must meet the following requirements:
- a genuine reason for extending the period of stay in Samoa;
- an onward or return ticket out of Samoa;
- details of accommodation arrangements;
- evidence of sufficient funds for self-support (typically a copy of a bank statement);
- a passport valid for a minimum of six (6) months after the intended period of stay in Samoa for the principal applicant and any dependents.
Costs
Applications for an extension to a Visitor Permit carry a processing fee of $100 (WST). This cost is non-refundable and applies irrespective of whether an application is successful or otherwise.
Forms
All applicants must fill out the Extension of Stay Application Form (MPMC108) (PDF document). One copy of the form should be used for each applicant.
Application checklist
Before submitting an application please review the following checklist to confirm that the application is complete. Make sure you have:
- an onward or return ticket out of Samoa;
- evidence of sufficient funds for self-support;
- evidence of accommodation arrangements;
- a completed Extension of Stay Application Form;
- a passport valid for a minimum of six (6) months after the intended period of stay in Samoa.
Submitting an application
Applications for permit extensions can only be made in person at our head office in Apia, Samoa. Any extension applications received by post will not be considered.
